Ghost has had just enough catnip to tolerate a mouse on his head for the amusement of others, but not enough catnip to think it’s all that funny.

Some red flowers in the back yard.

Willow’s favorite spot is right in front of the stereo speakers. We’ve tried moving her catnip scratcher other places nearby, but she always pushes it right back to that spot.

The cats here enjoy watching TV sometimes, although I haven’t yet figured out their preferences. They like Animal Planet and PBS’s nature shows, of course, but they also like Family Guy, Star Trek, and NCIS. Music shows are also a big hit with them, though they’re not fond of MTV; their tastes tend more toward folk and bluegrass.

This mimosa tree is much taller than most I’ve seen in this area; the majority (around here, at least) tend to be shorter with low-hanging, spreading branches. They’re more common in this area than my DK Tree Guide indicates; it says they’re found in SW Asia – go figure.

This is a Virginia Creeper vine in a tree near our house. I’m told that others may have different colors on the blooms; this one is orange. Later in the year, they have long seed pods that look like string beans.

These are the 4 cats who live with me. If you check in often on this photoblog, you’ll see more than a few shots of them. Clockwise from bottom: Damien (pre-summer haircut), Alvin (the baby at two years old), Willow (the only girl), and Ghost (facing front and looking characteristically inquisitive).

Rainbow
This was shot in the Boone’s Creek area of Johnson City, TN.

My grandmother’s old house in southwestern Virginia. Shot this afternoon during a steady rain that lasted just about all day.
